Analysis of Dashboard Design with Integrated TPMS


This paper is a design scheme of the dashboard integrated with TPMS function for an electric vehicle. The TPMS receiver is realized on the dashboard in the form of daughter board, which reduces the cost and inconvenience of independent installation, and can be easily installed and disassembled to meet the requirements of different electric vehicle configurations. According to the working principle and integration mode of TPMS and instrument panel, the system structure, Tire pressure sensor antenna design and instrument panel software design are analyzed. The TPMS transmitter is designed with SP3. The transmission efficiency and service life are solved by the unique antenna design, and the smooth operation of the instrument panel pointer is solved by the design of adaptive control algorithm.

 

1. Dashboard

The dashboard is a multi-directional vehicle information display platform, which is a window for the information exchange between the driver and the vehicle. The dashboard of electric vehicle is a high-tech product that adapts to the development of electronic, digital and information technology of electric vehicles. As a multi information display platform, it displays other specific information of electric vehicles, such as speed, gear status, motor speed, motor status and battery status, etc., and realizes the functions of motor fault alarm, battery low-voltage, unbalanced alarm, etc.

 

2.TPMS

TPMS is the abbreviation of‘tire pressure monitoring system’. TPMS is used to monitor tire pressure automatically in real time during the driving process, and to alarm tire leakage and low pressure to ensure driving safety. It is an active safety component of the vehicle, including direct TPMS and indirect TPMS.

At present, the tire pressure monitoring system sensor is widely used. It directly measure the tire pressure with the pressure sensor with lithium battery as power supply installed in each tire, and transmits it to the receiver and monitor installed on the bridge through radio frequency modulation. Due to the limitation of automobile structure and interior decoration, the installation position of TPMS receiver and monitor becomes a more difficult problem. At present, there are two solutions. One is battery powered or car lighter powered independent receiver and monitor. The other is to integrate the receiver and monitor in the navigator or multi-functional interior rearview mirror or dashboard. The first method has potential safety hazards when driving due to the unfixed installation position, which will bring some cost problems, but it can be applied to various models due to its strong independence. The second method has fixed installation position and can reduce costs, but it needs customization to meet the integration requirements, which is not applicable.

 

Through the integration of TPMS receiver in the form of daughter board in the instrument panel, the reception of tire temperature and pressure is realized in the dashboard. The data display and alarm of tire temperature and pressure are carried out through LCD, LED and buzzer in the instrument panel, so as to avoid the independent design and installation of TPMS receiver and monitor. At the same time, TPMS receiver can be loaded or unloaded conveniently according to the requirements of different models.

 

3. System Structure

The system consists of two parts, including four TPMS transmitters and dashboard. The MEMS chip of the transmitter is the core of the TPMS system. In this scheme, Infineon SP37 is adopted to design the TPMS transmitter, which is responsible for the detection of air pressure, temperature, electricity and acceleration, and sends the data to the receiver through wireless modulation.

 

The acquisition and display of information is the core function of the dashboard. Its display interface includes stepping motor and its pointer, LED, LCD and buzzer. The instrument panel integrates TPMS receiver in the form of daughter board, which realizes the reception of tire temperature and pressure on the dashboard. The data display and alarm of tire temperature and pressure are carried out through LCD, LED and buzzer to avoid the independent design and installation of TPMS receiver and monitor.

 

When the temperature or pressure of a tire is lower than a certain threshold value, the LED and buzzer can give an audible and visual alarm. The temperature and pressure values of four tires can be viewed with the mode button on the instrument panel. At the same time, the tpms tire sensor receiver can be loaded or unloaded conveniently according to different requirements of different models.
