Tire pressure monitoring system is a kind of active safety system of automobile using wireless transmission technology. The tire pressure monitoring system collects the tire pressure, temperature and other data by using the high sensitive micro wireless sensor fixed in the tire when driving or stationary, and transmits the data to the main engine in the cab to display the tire pressure, temperature and other related data in a digital form in real time. When the tire pressure is abnormal, the tire pressure sensor will alert the driver for early warning in the form of buzzer or voice. This can ensure that the tire pressure and temperature are maintained within the standard range, which reduces the probability of puncture and tire damage, and reduces fuel consumption and damage to vehicle components.
Because TPMS can monitor tire pressure both statically and dynamically, it can timely alarm the condition of too low tire pressure, too high tire pressure or air leakage, countries around the world attach great importance to the mandatory installation and use of TPMS on vehicles in recent years. The United States is the first country to promote the application of TPMS with mandatory standards. The standards have been implemented since September 1, 2007. The European Union also introduced mandatory TPMS standards in 2012. Subsequently, South Korean regulations require the mandatory installation of TPMS for new models of passenger cars under 3.5 tons from January 1, 2013, and the mandatory installation of all models by June 30, 2014. China's Taiwan region also clearly requires that TPMS is forced to install for M1 and N1 new models from November 1, 2013. In 2015, Iran also issued a strong TPMS standard. So from the perspective of the global automotive market, TPMS has gradually been recognized by various countries.
Since 2006, China's auto market has experienced a "golden decade" and cars are no longer luxury goods. Domestic auto manufacturers have also begun to install TPMS in front of some medium- and high-configuration models. With the continuous emphasis on car safety, more and more consumers have chosen to install TPMS, so this makes TPMS has a large market in China, which is also the best time to set strong standards. In March 2015, the mandatory national standard drafted by the China Automotive Standardization Technical Committee Automotive Electronics and Electromagnetic Compatibility Sub-Technical Committee was completed. After many discussions and deliberation, the TPMS mandatory national standard was officially released. From January 1, 2019, all newly certified vehicles in the Chinese market must be equipped with TPMS. From January 1, 2020, all vehicles in production will begin to implement mandatory installation requirements.
For many countries that are currently pursuing the goals of safer transportation and more efficient energy consumption, more mature automobile markets will join the TPMS team in the future. The formulation of the TPMS standard can play a very positive role in the energy saving and safety of automobiles, and will have a more active guidance for the TPMS market.
