Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System Makes Driving Safer And More Environmentally Friendly

WSBTPMS can not only accurately monitor tire pressure, but also effectively reduce carbon dioxide emissions, making driving safer and environmental protection. The tire pressure monitoring system with automatic positioning system can automatically detect and determine the position of each tire pressure sensor, so that the driver can get the accurate information of each tire in time.

1. Difference between WSBTPMS and PSBTPMS

Unlike PSBTPMS, which calculates tire pressure with wheel speed sensors, electronic stability system and other vehicle sensors, WSBTPMS collect tire pressure and temperature information with sensors installed in four tires. It transmits and displays the collected information on the dashboard through RF signal and on-board information network, so that the driver can receive accurate tire information in real time.

At the same time, the tire information system also has the function of inflatable assist, which can help the driver adjust the tire pressure to the appropriate tire pressure through visual reminder (help by light or smartphone application) or prompt tone reminder.

In addition, there are a series of innovative functions, such as tire trace depth monitoring function, which can remind the driver to change the tire in time through tire trace information, and vehicle load function, which enables the driver to understand the load situation, avoid overloading, and adjust the tire pressure according to the load.

2. Development of Tire Pressure Monitoring Abroad

Since the United States took the lead in October 2005 to launch the mandatory tire pressure monitoring system on passenger cars and light trucks, more and more countries and regions have introduced relevant laws and regulations, requiring the mandatory installation of the system.

After November 1, 2012, the European Union did not approve the new type of passenger car without TPMS. From November 2014, all passenger cars were required to install TPMS. This is not only for the sake of safety, but also an effective measure of environmental protection. At present, the application proportion of WSBTPMS and PSBTPMS in European market is about 70% and 30%, while in North America, the main applications are all direct TPMS.

In Asia, legislation mandating the loading of TPMS on passenger cars and light trucks has been implemented in some countries. For example, South Korea listed TPMS as a mandatory installation project in 2013. There are also Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Japan.

According to NHTSA's 2011 TPMS Research Report, vehicles equipped with TPMS have a significantly lower probability of severe tire pressure deficiency or over tire pressure than those without TPMS. At the same time, the report also points out that in the first eight years of assembly and usage of TPMS, it is estimated that 9.32 gallons of fuel can be saved for a common passenger car and 27.89 gallons for a light truck. It is estimated that in 2011 alone, the United States saved $511 million by reducing fuel consumption through TPMS.

3. Current Situation of Tire Pressure Monitoring in China

Since January 1, 2020, China has also begun to implement mandatory tire pressure monitoring regulations. Not long ago, a document entitled ‘Performance Requirements and Test Methods for Passenger Car Tire Pressure Monitoring System’ passed the mandatory national standard technical review and has been officially released and implemented after being approved by the National Standards Committee. This means that the TPMS has become a mandatory ‘standard’ for new cars in China in the future.

In short, all passenger cars in production will begin to implement the requirements for mandatory TPMS installation (tire pressure monitoring system) from January 1, 2020.

The state of the tire directly determines the safety of the vehicle, but it is easy to be ignored. Now, with the implementation of tire pressure monitoring policy, it is believed that more and more policies on vehicle safety will be implemented in the future. Only in this way can the car be safer and reassuring for users.
