Fault and Detection of Pressure Sensor

The pressure sensor is a device that can sense the pressure signal and convert it into an available output electric signal according to a certain rule. It is usually composed of pressure sensitive element and signal processing unit.

1. Common Faults

The main faults of pressure sensor are as follows.

(1) First, the transmitter can not output when the pressure is up. In this case, check whether the pressure interface leaks or is blocked. If not, check the wiring mode and the power supply. If the power supply is normal, simply pressurize to see whether the output changes, or check whether there is output at the zero position of the sensor. If not, the sensor is damaged, which may be the problem of instrument damage or problems in other parts of the whole system.

(2) The second is that the output of the pressure transmitter does not change, then the output of the pressure transmitter suddenly changes, and the zero position of the pressure relief transmitter cannot return. It is likely to be the problem of the sealing ring of the pressure sensor. The common reason is because of the seal ring specification. After the sensor is tightened, the seal ring is compressed into the pressure port of the sensor to block the sensor. When the pressure is increased, the pressure medium cannot enter. But when the pressure is high, the seal ring is suddenly opened, and the pressure sensor changes with the pressure. The best way to eliminate this kind of fault is to remove the sensor and directly check whether the zero position is normal. If the zero position is normal, replace the sealing ring and try again.

(3) The third is that the output signal of the transmitter is unstable. This kind of failure may be caused by pressure source. The pressure source itself is an unstable pressure, which may be due to the poor anti-interference ability of the instrument or pressure sensor, the severe vibration of the sensor itself and the sensor failure .

(4) The fourth is the large deviation between the transmitter and the pointer pressure gauge. Deviation is normal and just confirm the normal deviation range.

(5) The last fault is the influence of the installation position of micro differential pressure transmitter on the zero position output. Because of the small measuring range of micro differential pressure transmitter, the sensor elements in the transmitter will affect the output of micro differential pressure transmitter. The pressure sensitive parts of the transmitter should be perpendicular to the gravity direction when installed. After its installation, adjust the transmitter from zero to the standard value.

2. Fault Detection

Check the faults in the construction site. Most of them are caused by the improper usage and installation of the pressure sensor, which can be summed up in several aspects.

(1) The primary element (orifice plate, remote measuring joint, etc.) is blocked or installed improperly, and the pressure point is unreasonable.

(2) Leakage or blockage of impulse pipe, residual gas in liquid filled tube or residual liquid in inflatable tube, and deposit in flange during transmitter process, form dead zone of measurement.

(3) The transmitter wiring is incorrect. The power supply voltage is too high or too low, and the connection between the indicator meter and the instrument terminal is poor.

(4) The installation is not in strict accordance with the technical requirements, and the installation method and site environment do not meet the technical requirements.
