For vehicles equipped with a tire tire pressure monitoring system, the driver can observe the current tire pressure status through the instrument information display screen in time. When the vehicle is stationary, the internal accelerometer of the TPMS sensor is not activated, so that the tire pressure sensor enters a stationary state. In this state, the tire pressure monitor sensor samples the tire pressure every 30s. If the tire pressure does not change, it will not transmit. As the vehicle speed increases above 20km/h, the centrifugal force activates the accelerometer inside the sensor, which causes the sensor to enter the rolling mode. If the power supply of the body control module is cut off or the vehicle battery is disconnected, each tire pressure sensor identification code is retained, but all tire pressure information will be lost.
In these cases, the driver information center will be displayed as a horizontal line, and the fault diagnostic instrument will indicate a default tire pressure value of 1020kPa for each tire. When driving the vehicle at a speed higher than 20km/h for at least 2 minutes, the tire sensor will be activated to make the driver information center display the current tire pressure. At the same time, the body control module can detect a fault in the tire pressure monitoring system and set a fault diagnosis code. The tire pressure monitoring indicator icon on the combination meter will flash for 1 min. When the ignition switch is turned on and the combination meter light is detected after completion, the indicator icon will remain on. If any fault is detected, the driver information center will display a maintenance tire pressure monitoring system.
Tire monitor sensor is installed inside the tire and sends an RF (radio frequency) signal with identification information, pressure and temperature. The remote control function actuator module (RFA) can receive the signal of the sensor, but it does not have the ability to further process the signal, but simply sends the sensor data to the TPMS application software located in the BCM, and the application software in the BCM according to the corresponding operation Law to deal with. Finally, BCM sends the corresponding information to the dashboard and driver information center.
The read-in procedure of the tire pressure sensor is divided into two methods: the read-in method of the dedicated module and the manual read-in method.
(1) Reading method of special module
1) Using J-46079, start the tire pressure monitoring and reading mode. If you hear two sounds from the horn and turn on the turn signal lights, it means that the read-in mode has been activated and the left front turn signal will also be on.
2) Starting from the left front tire, put the antenna of J-46079 upwards against the position of the valve core, and close to the side wall of the tire of the wheel to activate the sensor. Press and release the start button and wait for the horn to sound. Once all turn signal lights are activated for 3s and the horn sounds, the sensor information has been read in, and the turn signal in the next read position will be on.
3) Repeat step 2) in the following order to activate the remaining three sensors: front right, rear right, and rear left.
4) When the left rear sensor has been read in, all turn signal lights are activated for 3 seconds, and the horn sounds twice, the read-in process is completed and the body control module exits the read mode.
5) Set the ignition switch to the OFF position and adjust all tires to the recommended pressure.
(2) Manual reading method
1) Set the ignition switch to the ON position and press and release the "INFO" button on the handle switch. Press and hold the "SET/RESET" button until all turn signals are activated for 3 seconds, and the horn sounds twice, indicating that the read-in mode has been activated, and the left front turn signal will also be lit.
2) Starting from the left front wheel, increase/decrease the tire pressure of 8.3kPa, and then wait for the horn to emit a "chirp" sound. The "chirp" sound of the horn can appear before the pressure increases/decreases or after a maximum of 30s. Once the horn sounds, read the sensor information, the turn signal lamp of the next position to be read will be on.
3) The horn emits a "chirp" sound, and after the turn signal of the next reader lights up, repeat step 2) in the following order to activate the remaining three sensors: front right, rear right, and rear left.
4) When the left rear sensor has been read in, all the turn signal lights are activated for 3 seconds, and the horn sounds two "chirps", the reading process is completed and the body control module exits the read mode.
5) Set the ignition switch to the OFF position and adjust all tires to the recommended pressure.
