How to Deal with Right Front Tire Pressure Sensor Failure?

The tpms tire pressure monitoring system consists of a remote function actuator module (RFA), four tire air pressure sensors and application software located in the BCM. The tire pressure monitor sensor is installed inside the tire and sends an RF signal with identification information, pressure and temperature. RFA can receive the signal of the sensor, but it does not have the ability to further process the signal. It simply sends the sensor data to the TPMS application software located in the BCM, which is processed by the application software in the BCM according to the corresponding algorithm. The relative position of the sent tires is determined by ALM, and finally BCM will send the corresponding information to the dashboard and driver information center.

When the rv tire pressure monitoring system fails, it is important to distinguish whether the tire air pressure fails or the tire monitoring system failure. Understanding the difference between two different faults helps distinguish between normal system operation faults (tires need to be inflated) and system faults. There are two important differences between checking the low tire pressure information light and repairing the tire monitoring information light. One is that the “check tire pressure/tire pressure low” warning light is always on, and the system has not set a fault code , which shows that the tyre monitoring system works normally, and you can correct the tire pressure to solve the problem. The other is that the driver information center DIC prompts "please repair tire pressure monitoring system", the warning light flashes, the system sets the fault code, and the tire pressure monitoring system needs diagnosis and repair.

The best tire pressure monitoring system is used to inform the driver of the tire air pressure or the fault of the system itself. The specific operations for maintenance are as follows.

  tire air sensors

1. Check And Repair The Tire Monitoring System (the Warning Light Flashes And Stays On)

When the system fails, the tire pressure warning light will flash for about 1 minute, and the DIC displays "Please repair the tire pressure monitoring system." If one or more tire air sensors have not sent any signal within a certain period of time, the tire pressure monitoring system will set a fault code, display this information and flash the warning light for about 1 min, and the light will remain on for the rest of the ignition cycle. If the system failure is intermittent, the alarm message/warning light may also be intermittent, lighting up in some ignition cycles and extinguishing in other cycles. At this time, use the diagnostic tool to check the vehicle, and repair it according to the fault code prompt.

2. Low Or High Tire Pressure Warning

If the tst tire pressure monitoring system detects that a certain tire pressure is lower than the calibration value, the DIC displays the message "XX Tire Pressure Low" or "XX Tire Pressure High", and the tire pressure warning light will light up and stay on. Alarm messages and warning lights may work intermittently, especially in cold weather.

The conditions that cause the tire pressure to be too low or too high are usually indicated by the following factors: 1)The tire may be stuck or have a slow air leak. 2)The tire pressure has not been checked in the past 6 months. 3)The air pressure of the cold tire may be in a state where the system needs to warn the driver. The temperature and air pressure of the tire will gradually increase during the driving, so that the information and warning lights are turned off. 4)The tire may have been replaced, the air pressure has been adjusted and the tire position has not been re-read into the vehicle. This situation may occur on vehicles with two different air pressures on the front and rear wheels. 5)The wheel and tire assembly may have a slow air leak.

When the above situation occurs, it is necessary to check or replace the related parts and adjust the tire pressure to 240kPa.

3. No Display Or Partial Display Of Tire Pressure

When the tire pressure monitoring system works normally, the driver information center DIC will correctly display the tire pressure values at the four positions. In the following cases, all or part of the DIC tire pressure value is displayed as "----": 1)After the vehicle battery is disconnected, the four tire pressure values are displayed as "----", at this time, no maintenance work is required. After normal driving (vehicle speed greater than 20km/h), the tire pressure display will return to normal after 20 minutes. 2)The tire pressure learning process is not completed normally, and the tire pressure is still not displayed or partially displayed after the vehicle runs normally for 20min, and the tire pressure sensor needs to be re-read. 3)The tire or the tire pressure sensor has been replaced , the corresponding tire pressure is displayed as "----", you need to re-read the tire pressure sensor at this time. 4)The tire pressure learning process learned the tires of other cars and vehicles, resulting in the corresponding tire pressure of the car displayed as "----" At this time, you need to re-read the tire pressure sensor.

4. Read-in Of Tire Pressure Sensors

After changing the tire or wheel speed sensor, the repair station uses the following method to read in the tire pressure sensor. The specific steps are: 1)Put the gear lever to "P", turn on the ignition switch to ON, and enter the tire pressure display interface through DIC, and at the same time, DIC displays "Press the Set/Ctrl key to learn again", press the Set/Ctrl key, the turn signal starts for 3s and the horn emits two beeps to enter the learning mode. 2)Start from the left front wheel, hold the special tool or with the position of the valve core, close to the tire sidewall of the rim, press the tool to start the switch. When the horn emits a beep, it indicates that the tire pressure sensor information has been read. 3)Follow the above methods, perform the read-in process for the front right, rear right, and rear left wheel, when the learning process is over, the turn signal starts for 3s and the horn emits two beeps.
