1. Direct Tire Pressure Monitor
The direct tire pressure monitor device directly measures the air pressure of the tire by using a pressure sensor installed in each tire, and transmits the pressure information from the inside of the tire to the central receiver module by using a wireless transmitter. Then, each tire pressure data is displayed. When the tire pressure is too low or leaks, the system will automatically alarm.
2. Indirect Tire Pressure Monitor
The working principle of indirect tire pressure monitor is when the tire pressure is lowered, the weight of the vehicle will make the rolling radius of the wheel smaller, resulting in faster rotation than other wheels. By comparing the difference in rotational speed between the tires, the purpose of monitoring the tire pressure is achieved. The indirect tire alarm system actually relies on calculating the rolling radius of the tire to monitor the air pressure.
3. Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS)
TPMS combines the advantages of both systems. It is equipped with direct sensors in two mutually diagonal tires and equipped with a 4-wheel indirect system. Compared to all direct systems, this hybrid system can reduce costs and overcome the shortcomings of indirect systems that cannot detect multiple tires with low air pressure. However, it still does not provide real-time data on the actual pressure of all four tires as in the direct system.
