What Are the Causes of Flat Tires(2)

Today, we will introduce the other three reasons leading to a flat tire.

1. Tire pressure is not up to safety requirements

In highway transportation, there are two main situations where tire pressure does not meet safety requirements. One is that the tire pressure of lorries is too high, and the other is that the tire pressure of small cars is too low. Both of these situations can easily lead to flat tires on the road.

For the 900-20 type tires commonly used in lorries, when the tire load is at the maximum allowable value, the tire internal pressure is generally required to be 7 atmospheres. In order to load more goods, the drivers generally charge tire pressure above 10 atmospheres, this situation makes the tire overloaded for a long time, just like a balloon filled with too much air, with overload, bumps on the road and other factors, it is easy to cause a flat tire.

As for the low-pressure tires commonly used in modern cars, when the load on the tires is at the maximum allowable value, the internal pressure of the tires is generally required to be 2.5 atmospheres. At this time, some drivers think that it is better to make the tire air pressure lower, so that the tire is not easy to burst. Based on this understanding, some car drivers let out part of the air in the tires before driving on the highway, making the tires stubborn. In fact, too low tire pressure can easily lead to flat tires.

2. The tire has internal injuries or air bubbles in the tire cord

In both the cases, the quality of the tire itself is a problem. Inner tyre injury means that the inner tube of the tire has been repaired due to sharp holes or valve leaks. Repaired tires have far less tightness and load capacity than normal tires. The repaired inner position of the repaired tire is generally cushioned with a rubber gasket. The purpose of this gasket is to repair the puncture of the tire, so as to prevent the repaired tire from "bubbling" at the puncture of the tire and then bursting the tire. However, such a gasket protruding from the inner surface of the tire has an abrasion effect on the repaired portion of the tire under the load. If the tire is often overloaded or bumps on the road, it is easy to cause the tire to burst.

The air bubbles in the tire ply are formed during the tire production process. For tires with air bubbles in the ply, the air bubbles in the ply will move due to the overload, and the space volume occupied by the air bubbles will also gradually increase with the movement of air bubbles, which will eventually lead to perforation of the tire ply, and then the inner tube will "bubble" from the perforation of the ply and burst the tire.

3. Excessive wear on the tire surface or oil corrosion will result in a flat tire

At present, many vehicles running on domestic roads suffer from excessive wear on the tire surface. The tire pattern of some cars has been smoothed. Such tire load capacity and compressive strength are far lower than normal tires, it is difficult to maintain the normal driving, coupled with factors such as high temperature, over-speed and bumpy roads, it is easy to burst tires

Car tires are also prone to flat tires due to oil corrosion. This is because car tires are made of rubber, and their chemical composition is organic substances. Such organic substances are easily soluble in organic solvents such as gasoline and engine oil. Such tires cannot withstand normal air pressure and normal load capacity, and tire burst is extremely likely to occur when driving on the road.

In addition to the above-mentioned reasons that cause car tires to burst, high temperatures and unequal road surfaces are also factors that cannot be ignored. Summers with high temperatures are the most frequent occurrence of puncture accidents. Collapsed sections of highways and severely damaged roads are often the most frequent occurrence of puncture accidents.

As an important part of a car, the main consideration of tire performance is the tire pressure. Too low or too high tire pressure will affect the tire's performance and reduce its service life, ultimately affecting driving safety.

In order to get the suitable tire pressure timely, we can use the TPMS. The full name of TPMS is the tire pressure monitoring system, which is used to automatically monitor the tire air pressure in real time during the driving, and to alarm the tire leakage and low air pressure to ensure driving safety.
